At Serenity Paws, we are entrusted with lives. Not property. Not tasks. Lives.

Every companion animal in our care represents a family, a bond, and a trust that must never be taken lightly. These animals rely entirely on us for their safety, comfort, health, and dignity. Their families trust us to act as their advocates, their guardians, and their voice.

This responsibility requires vigilance, integrity, accountability, and professionalism at all times.

Therefore, all Serenity Paws employees, affiliates, and team members are required to commit to the following Professional Animal Care Oath.

Professional Animal Care Oath

I acknowledge that every companion animal entrusted to us is a living being deserving of dignity, compassion, safety, and vigilant care.

I solemnly pledge and commit to the following:

Commitment to Animal Welfare

I promise to remain vigilant and observant at all times, actively monitoring each animal for:

Physical health and body condition
Weight changes or loss
Skin irritation, hair loss, or wounds
Stool and urine consistency
Changes in behavior or temperament
Signs of lethargy, distress, or discomfort
Excessive drinking, urination, or licking
Appetite changes
Signs of illness or injury

I commit to reporting any abnormalities immediately to leadership.

I understand that failure to notice or report these conditions may result in harm to the animal and is unacceptable.

Commitment to Environmental Safety and Comfort

I pledge to ensure that all animals in our care receive:

Fresh, clean water at all times
Clean kennels free of feces and urine
Clean bedding changed regularly and immediately when soiled
Safe environments free of chewing hazards
Removal of unsafe collars or neck items when appropriate
Proper ventilation and airflow
Temperature control maintained between 67–70°F
Clean, sanitary, and comfortable living spaces

I understand that maintaining a safe and comfortable environment is non-negotiable.

Commitment to Vigilance and Initiative

I promise to:

Use my senses and awareness at all times
Take initiative without being told
Act immediately when something appears wrong
Advocate for animals who cannot speak for themselves
Never assume someone else will notice or act
Treat every animal as if they were my own

I acknowledge that passive observation is not acceptable.
Active vigilance is required.

Commitment to PACFA and OSHA Compliance

I pledge to understand and comply with all applicable:

PACFA (Pet Animal Care Facilities Act) laws and regulations
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards
State, local, and federal animal welfare laws
Serenity Paws policies and procedures

I understand that compliance with these laws is not optional and is essential to:

Protect animal welfare
Maintain facility safety
Protect staff safety
Maintain legal and ethical standards

I commit to upholding these regulations with professionalism and accountability.

Act with integrity and professionalism
Treat animals with compassion and respect
Maintain attention to detail
Follow established protocols and procedures

I understand that this role carries serious responsibility and requires professionalism at all times.

Commitment to Personal Health and Wellness

I acknowledge that caring for animals requires physical strength, mental clarity, and emotional awareness.

Therefore, I commit to:

Maintaining my physical health to safely perform job duties
Staying alert and attentive while working
Managing fatigue and ensuring I am fit for duty
Using proper lifting techniques and safety practices
Taking care of my own wellness so I can provide the best care possible

I understand that my own health directly impacts the safety and well-being of the animals in my care as well as the safety of my team mates.

I understand that:

Animals depend on my vigilance

I acknowledge that failure to uphold this oath may result in:

Disciplinary action
Removal from animal care responsibilities
Termination of employment
